Disco Party!

Mikey turned 40 on June 25th.
I knew I wanted to throw him a party, but I did not want a Over The Hill party.
Maybe when we turn 100, but otherwise,  I do not like to think of any future age as over the hill!
So I decided we would celebrate the Decade Of His Birth.
1970's!
How best to do that?
A Disco Party!
So the 7 of us, (including Ben (of course) and Lakota who flew in from Palm Springs CA on the 22nd)
went to the local Goodwill store for some 70's outfits.
We hit jackpot. Or the bottom of the barrel depending on your opinion.

There are few words to describe this..
Check out the groovy sideburns and mustache on Lakota.
Groven to the tunes.
A birthday kiss for my Honey!

AL & Diane and their son Nick, Susan & Randy and their daughters Hannah and Madison were there. The girls are 9 & 10 and the 4 kids always have a blast together.
Katelyn and her friends were there.
I made one of Mikes favorite meals
Kahlua Pork (which is shredded salty smoked pork)
Everybody brought a side dish, so there was lots of yummy food.

We had a disco ball, and only played Disco music all night.
Everybody was dancing and singing along.
Ben busted a move all night long.
I'm blinded by the Disco Ball!!
Oh, wait, it was just Uncle Owiee as his own Disco Ball.
Isn't there a song "Silver and Gold"?
More birthday smooches.
While we were dancing and singing the kids were playing NASCAR racing on the Playstation.
But when we were all done dancing, we came in and took over.
One time, 40 years ago, someone thought these clothes were good ideas.
We are one good looking family aren't we?
Lakota is staying with us for 3 weeks. This was his introduction to Florida.
Good thing he is a good sport!
Bro wearing my disco ball earrings to go with his disco ball shirt.
Silver and Gold, Silver and Gold... yep, pretty sure there is a song that goes that way.
Time to light the birthday candles.
No, we didn't light 40 candles. We put the long wicks in a '40'
Mike had said something about loving his moms German Chocolate Cake,
so Christina made it for him.
I hope your wish comes true!
We had a great party with great friends and family to share his special day!
Thank you everyone who came. It was a lot of fun!
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE
MAY WE HAVE MANY MORE THAN 40 MORE YEARS
TO SHARE ALL THE LAUGHS, FUN, ADVENTURES AND LOVE TOGETHER.
I LOVE YOU!
