Boy Scout Camp Out... or Not

We were suppose to be camping all weekend with the boy scouts.
Friday and Saturday nights.
The theme was Distant Planet Adventure.
This years campout was held at a park only 20 minutes from us.
They had 3 activity sessions the first half of Saturday.
And 3 the second half.
Here they are shooting rocket water bottles into space.
Or into the nearest tree like Caleb did.
We decided not to go Friday night since there
wasn't anything going on.
So we got there early Saturday.
Most of the activities were fun.  Most.
This one I really liked.
Find all the skeleton bones in the hay,
then connect them.
First group wins.
Only the parents were NOT supposed to help.
But several did.
Thats why we won.
Zachary is very good at Avoiding the Aliens, or dodge ball.
He struck out quite a few players,
and even made the winning strike out.
Shooting the Aliens left lots to be desired.
The nerf guns were a pain to load,
and then you had to pick up
 all the little bullets.
The boys thought just playing on a rolling log
was much more fun.
Everybody got to ride and fall off of the 'space bus'.
They played here longer than most of the activities.
By lunch time Zachary was having trouble breathing
so we gave him his breathing treatment in the truck.
We always bring his breathing machine.
We also have a converter in the truck for this very reason.
Thank goodness.
After his treatment and then lunch,
he felt better.
Zachary taught Caleb how to go down the fireman pole.
Calebs favorite thing to play on is the swings.
Just like his momma!
As we were eating dinner Zachary started looking
bad again, so we decided to just head on home.
But not before stopping to look at this deer that was
not afraid of us at all.
This makes 2 years in a row that
Zachary has gotten sick at the campout
and we have had to leave early.
I am just thankful, that unlike last year
we were much closer to home.
Maybe next year we can stay for the whole thing.
We still got our badges tho!
